TORRINGTON – Shirley Irene (Pugsley) Farrell, 86, passed away at her home on Feb. 20, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, at the First Congregational Church with Pastor Matt Gordon officiating. Burial will take place in the Valley View Cemetery. The casket will open at the church one hour prior to services.

Shirley was born at home in Moore Springs Community on Sept. 6, 1936, to Cecil C. and Ruth M. (Jesdinsky) Pugsley. Shirley graduated from Torrington High School in 1955. She married the love of her life, Ivan Farrell at the United Presbyterian Church in Torrington on May 14, 1956.

Shirley worked at the First National Bank in Torrington for eight years and was a clerk at the Crook County Treasurers Office in Sundance for seven years. Shirley and Ivan were lifelong residents of Wyoming, living in Torrington, Cheyenne, Jackson Hole, and Sundance. Shirley was a loving wife and mother; she enjoyed traveling to see the beautiful sites of our country and visiting family with her husband, Ivan. She was a wonderful homemaker and cook, a beautiful seamstress, she loved gardening and did plenty of canning. Shirley was a self-taught artist, gifting some of her paintings to her family.

Shirley was an active member of the First Congregational Church and of Gleanor’s Union. She helped each year making cabbage buns for her church fundraisers and preparing for the yearly Ham and Bean Supper.

Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Ivan Farrell; her three children, son Donald (Marie) of Custer, South Dakota, daughter Diana Preuninger (Richard) of Powell and son David (Sherri) of Mounds View, Minnesota; her brother Jack Pugsley (Elaine) of Torrington, sisters Janet Sanders of Torrington, Joyce Birkley (Dan) of Torrington and Nancy Martin (Bob) of Cedar Creek, Texas; six grandchildren, Dakota, Rachel, Richard III, Gabby, Brandon and Courtney; three great grandchildren, Haden, Karlee and Jimmy.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, brother Lee and brother-in-law, James.
