A second case of COVID-19 has been diagnosed in Goshen County exactly a week after the first.
According to a press release from Goshen County Public Health, the department learned of the case this morning and the patient has not been hospitalized.
“Goshen County Public Health officials were notified of the second case of COVID-19 on April 3, 2020. The Wyoming Department of Health is investigating this case and high-risk contacts will be notified. The patient is currently not hospitalized.”
According to the release, local agencies will continue to work to educate the community about the virus and its spread.
“Local agencies will continue to provide community education about mitigation efforts such as social distancing,” the release said. “Evidence from other affected cities and countries clearly shows that areas that initiated mitigation measures prior to widespread community transmission are significantly better able to address their community’s needs.”
The second Goshen County patient brings the statewide total to 154. Laramie County has the most cases at 37, while Big Horn, Crook, Hot Springs, Lincoln, Niobrara, Platte and Weston Counties have yet to see a case of COVID-19.
There have 2,699 tests administered statewide, and 37 patients have recovered.
