TORRINGTON – Sandra Rae Barnes of Torrington passed away suddenly on June 8, 2020.
She was born in Torrington on Dec. 6, 1958, the daughter of Edward Pfaff and Patricia (Evans) Pfaff. She graduated from Torrington High School in 1977.
She married Bruce Barnes in 1978. The couple had four beautiful girls together. They later divorced.
Ms. Barnes moved back to Torrington, where she worked at Community Hospital for many years and attended college, studying nursing.
She has been with her significant other, Keith Howe, since 2001.
She is survived by her significant other, Keith; her children, Christie Barnes, Heather Barnes, Vicki Barnes and her fiancé, Eric Tapia and Stephanie Barnes; sister Debbie and her significant other, Bruce; and 12 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her former husband, Bruce.
Our mother was a wonderful woman who loved her family so much. She loved holidays, cooking, the outdoors, music and cleaning. She would do anything for anybody if she could.
Everyone called her Momma Sandy. She will be missed so much.
Cremation has taken place. The family hosted a celebration of life at 5 p.m., Saturday, June 13, 2020, at the home of her daughter, Vicki.
