CHEYENNE – Russell Clair Marlatt, 74, died on Feb. 19, 2023, in Cheyenne. A memorial service will be held in Torrington at Colyer Funeral Home at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 3, 2023. Cremation has taken place and donations can be made to the North Christian Church of Cheyenne or Evangelical Free Church of Cheyenne.

Russell was born on July 4, 1948, in Torrington. He was living in Cheyenne at the time of his death. Russell hauled hay and farm equipment for local farmers and ranchers and worked as a mechanic. He was born to Clair and Alice (Lewis) Marlatt of Hawk Springs.

He married Ethel Shields in 1969 (divorced in 1997). Together they had five children. Mary Marlatt Schmitt of Parker, Colorado, Beverly Marlatt Boden of Buffalo, Becky Marlatt Martinez (Joe Martinez) of Thermopolis, Mark Marlatt (Michelle Bloemker) of Torrington, and Matthew Marlatt who died in infancy.

Russell enjoyed working outdoors and was a lifelong supporter of the National FFA Organization, having received his American FFA Degree in 1968. He was passionate about square dancing and enjoyed the many good people he met at the various square dance events he attended. Russell also enjoyed his church communities during the years he lived in Cheyenne.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clair Marlatt, his mother, Alice Marlatt, his sister, Jacqueline Marlatt, his ex-wife, Ethel Marlatt, and son, Matthew Marlatt.
