TORRINGTON – Rodney Dean Zwiebel, 63, died Thursday, April 26, 2018, at the University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, Colo.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 4, at the First Congregational Church with the Rev. Matt Gordon officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Morrill, Neb. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the family for medical and funeral expenses.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 3, from 3-5 p.m. at the funeral home and the casket will be closed at the church.

Rodney was born May 31, 1954, in Scottsbluff, Neb., the son of Orville George and Lucille Elizabeth (Johnson) Zwiebel. He was raised in Morrill, where he graduated high school in 1972. Rodney married Deb Hinman and the couple had two boys, William Dean and Justin Ryan Zwiebel. He later married Shari Anderson on Nov. 26, 1988, in Morrill. Rodney worked for Grasmick Farms in Morrill before the couple moved to Torrington in 1991, where he worked at John Deere and then eventually worked for Madden Farms.

He enjoyed NASCAR and WNCC men’s basketball. Rodney took particular pride in his kids and grandkids. No matter the activity, he was always there to attend and cheer them on.

Rodney was an eye, bone and tissue donor. It was very important to him to give of himself and help others and he was able to make that happen with his donations.

Survivors include his wife Shari; son William (Glenna) Zwiebel and their children Brittany and Garrett; son Justin (Angie) Zwiebel; step son Jason Temple and his son Ryan; sister Jeane (Doug) MacPherson; brother Terry (Yvonne) Zwiebel; brother Brian Zwiebel; numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents.
