WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. – Robert William Nesbitt, “Bob” to all who knew him, left this life on Dec. 8, 2017, in Collier Hospice Center in Wheat Ridge. Bob suffered a stroke shortly after Thanksgiving. Although he had a comeback when his family rallied around him, he could not
pull through.
Bob was born in Lakeview, Ore., the son of A.D. and Elizabeth Margaret Nesbitt. He grew up in California, working with other family members at farm and ranch work. After graduation from high school in 1968, he worked in auto mechanics and construction. As time went on, he worked also in landscaping and print and graphics. He was self-employed for most of his life, as he was independent and industrious.
In 1969, he married Diane Dunigan, and they had one daughter, Michelle. She was the great treasure of Bob’s life.
Bob was adventurous and daring. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, horseback riding, gold mining, sky-diving, deep-sea diving, and four-wheeling in the Rubicon.
In 2012 he moved to Torrington to be close to his brother John. He continued working at auto repair as he built up his print and graphics business. As always, he made friends and got along with everyone.
Bob was strong, brave, loyal, hardworking, generous, optimistic and positive. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Brandt, of Vancouver, Wash., and her son, Zack; sisters Susan Abegg of Lompoc, Calif.; Jackie (Dan) Schwed of Fernley, Nev.; Carmen (Steve) Mendelson of Greensboro, N.C.; Irene (Thomas) Koch of Alicante, Spain; and brothers John (Rocio) of Torrington and David (Mary Carmen) of Granada, Spain.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother Sandy.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial is planned for a later time when the family can get together again.
