TORRINGTON – Memorial services for Robert C. Thomas, 87, will be 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2018, at the First Congregational Church with the Rev. Matt Gordon officiating. Bob died Nov. 24, 2018, at Goshen Healthcare Community and cremation has taken place. 

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate contributions to either the First Congregational Church or to Eastern Wyoming College Community Foundation. Arrangements are by the Colyer Funeral Home and condolences may be sent to www.colyerfuneralhome.com. 

Bob was born Dec. 22, 1930, in Whitney, Neb., to William Eugene Thomas and Marthena J. Smith. After serving in the U.S. Navy, Bob attended Chadron State College, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in business administration. He continued his education at the University of Wyoming and received a Masters of Education degree in education administration. 

He spent the majority of his long career as the first-ever Business Manager of Eastern Wyoming College. He was instrumental in building the first building at the College’s current location. 

Bob would say, “See that sidewalk, see those bricks, I laid those with my own hands.”

Bob is survived by three daughters from his marriage to Shirley Kyte (deceased): Debbie McCoy of Cheyenne; Karen (Ken) Norris of Houston, Texas, and; Diana (Jerry) Olson of Lander; his sister Katherine McDaniel of Loveland, Colo.; three step-children: Jennifer Hunt (Greg Davidson) of Calgary, Canada, Terry (Alan) Korell of Lingle and Tracy (Donna) Hunt of Newcastle,; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Margaret (Hunt) Thomas; his parents; and sister Lorena “Jean” (Chasteen) Thomas.
