Robert “Bob” Adams

TORRINGTON – Robert “Bob” Adams, 76, of Torrington, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, July 21.

Celebration of Life will be held at American Legion Post 10 in Morrill Aug. 13 from 2-6 p.m.

Bob was born Sep. 3, 1945, north of Morrill, Nebraska to Henry Jr and Elsie Adams, and lived on the family farm with his six siblings. He graduated Morrill High School in 1963 where he enjoyed playing football. He bought his 1965 GTO which helped him meet Linda Weickum. They married and bought a family farm north of Henry, Nebraska. They had four children, including Brent, Brenda, Sheila and Roxy. Brent died in a farming accident in 1979.

They began Kountry Kids starting with Cookouts, and it evolved to Go-Karts, Bumper, Miniature Golf and more. Shortly after that, Linda and Bob divorced. He then married Patricia Haines and started working at St. Joseph’s Children’s Home, where he worked for 25 years. For 21 years of the time at St. Joseph’s, they started the Horse Program to help the residents participate in a program designed to work with horses in a therapeutic way. He retired in 2014, where he spent the remaining days enjoying gardening as well as helping farm for Rose Wells.

He is survived by his wife Pat Haines, children Brenda (Ronnie) Schmidt, Sheila (Scott) Adams, Roxanne (Aaron) Meury, Michelle Haines, grandchildren Mychaela Landstrom, Maelakai Landstrom, River Meury, and Alpine Meury, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and extended family best friend, Bob Waring.Preceded in death includes Brent Adams (son), Henry Adams Jr, Elsie Schwaubauer, John Schwaubauer, and all his siblings.
