Dick was born on July 25, 1934 in Torrington, the son of Fred and Mary (Moffott) Schutt. He graduated from Torrington High School in 1954 and married Javene Keller of Lingle on April 8, 1955. They had two children Dee “Boo” (Gary) Herdt and Richard Schutt Jr. He was employed with Shell Oil Company in 1955 as a Seismograph Operator/Troubleshooter and retired in 1972 and returned to Wyoming. He started Schutt Construction Company and later developed the North Hills Addition in Lingle.

Dick was an avid fisherman and in his ‘retirement’ he started a grape vineyard in Lingle where he loved to spend hours tending to the grapevines that he grew from cuttings. His small hobby vineyard now produces twenty tons of grapes annually.

Dick is survived by his wife Javene Schutt; his children Dee Herdt and Richard Schutt Jr; and his brother Jerry Fred Schutt. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Fred and Mary Schutt; his sister Betty Hanson; and his twin brothers Bob and Bill Schutt.
