Proverbs 3:5

Posted

There is no way to prepare your heart. It seems as if we had waited our whole life to become grandparents and then all of a sudden, there she is. We had sat in a tiny room with others to await her arrival and Ty finally came to the door and announced, “She is here!” The days, weeks and months of waiting were over. We now knew this child was a “she”, and soon would learn her name to be Adelle.

We all were allowed into the room where Sara held this long awaited one. She held her out and there she was in my arms. My heart felt like fireworks were going off and tears streamed out of my eyes like diamonds.  I greeted her with what is now our signature song, “You are my sunshine.” I have sang it many times since, but there is nothing like the first time.

There is no way to prepare my heart. No way to prepare for this week as our first starts her senior year of high school.  She is our quiet one who has now been joined by others who are not.  Her way of recharging is to hole up with a book. She has a quiet demeanor about her, always looking and listening. When she decides to jump into a conversation watch out! She has great thoughts and expresses them so well! I love nothing more than to have a cup of coffee with her and ask the question, “So how are things in your world.”

She is our artist who is game to take on any project we throw at her. I love that she will teach me to bake a rhubarb pie and be very patient with me when I mess up. She has a wicked sense of humor and can use sarcasm just as it was created to be used.

She isn’t perfect and I surely wouldn’t want her to be. She recognized her imperfection and has put her trust in a perfect savior. His name is Jesus.

There is no way to prepare my heart. My prayer for her and for all others that are starting their senior year is that they will wait. In such a fast paced world ask the question, “God, what would you have me to do?”, and then sit back and listen. He will answer, just wait and see.

You are my sunshine. I want to be like you when I grow up. God is preparing my heart and yours for great things to come. We will simply wait.

 Proverbs 3:5-6Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
