TORRINGTON – Applications are due Friday for the next round of the Progress Program, sponsored by the Goshen County Economic Development Corporation.

Progress Program grants come in two varieties: Capital Matching funds and Community Enhancement funds. Both are funded through the quarter-cent sales tax, established in 2010 by the state legislature.

Program goals include “help businesses succeed by making their properties more attractive to their customers, and to make communities more attractive to potential new businesses, employees, residents and visitors,” according to the website. Funding applications are reviewed quarterly. The deadline for the next round of grant review is scheduled for June 25 and again on Oct. 25.

Capital Matching Funds may be used for infrastructure improvements and beautification projects to enhance the overall appearance of the community to help attract new businesses, employees, residents and visitors. The Community Enhancement Fund targets quality-of-life improvements for communities and nonprofit organizations. Focus for the Enhancement Fund may include cultural, historical, education and more, the website states.

Downloadable applications for both funds are available at: http://www.goshenwyo.com/goshen-edc/about-us/progress-program. All applicants are required to meet with GCEDC staff prior to completing the submission process.
