Platte River Recovery meeting set

Posted

BILLINGS, Mont. – The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation has selected Torrington as the site for one of four meetings to receive public comment on its draft environmental assessment of the ongoing Platte River Recover Program.
Bureau staff will be at the Goshen County Fairgrounds beginning at 6 p.m. on March 20. The approximately two-hour meeting will include a presentation on the plans, scheduled for 6:30 p.m., and will invite public comment.
Reclamation, in conjunction with the states of Wyoming, Colorado and Nebraska, water users and environmental and conservation groups, have proposed extending the cooperative recovery program for an additional 13 years. The extension would continue the implementation of projects to provide additional water, according to a bureau press release.
The bureau is also accepting written comments, due by the close of business on April 14. Written comments may be submitted at the public meeting, via email to platteriver@usbr.gov., or by mail to: Bureau of Reclamation; Attention: Brock Merrill; P.O. Box 950; Torrington, WY 82240
