Open Letter to the Community 4/27

Posted

As many of you are aware Eastern Wyoming College just completed an extensive search for the open position of President. Unfortunately, that search did not end with the vacancy being filled because the Board of Trustees determined that none of three highly qualified candidates that were brought to the Torrington and Douglas campuses for a series of interview events with staff, faculty, students, and community members were the right fit. To say the least, we, Faculty and Staff, were more than disappointed.
Many of you have read or heard about EWC and some of the challenges we have faced. So to the purpose of this letter. We want Goshen County and surrounding communities to know that Eastern Wyoming College is our home, a home we come to every day with the intention of making it the best community college in Wyoming, a place of which we are proud, a place where students and each other are valued. But we need the community to work with us to keep this desire to be the best alive. We need the community to stand up with us to move forward. That is why we are inviting every community member who values what Eastern Wyoming College has to offer to attend a town hall meeting in the Fine Arts Auditorium on Thursday, April 28 at 6:30 p.m. We want to share our concerns and hear your concerns about the future, and to begin a dialog for planning for a better and brighter future for Eastern Wyoming College.
