LUSK – Benefits are in the works for the family of a cowboy injured Saturday during a ranch rodeo here.
Clay Ashurst, 38, was seriously injured at the Eastern Wyoming Ranch Rodeo, in Lusk. Ashurst was the pick-up man during the bronc riding event when his horse collided with a bronc.
Ashurst remains hospitalized at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper with a brain stem injury at

press time.
Two events are being planned to show support for the Ashurst family.  An online benefit auction and stray gather with match trailer short round event are in the works.
The Clay Ashurst Benefit Auction can be accessed online at https://www.facebook.com/PrayforClayashurst. To donate items or services, you may message here and the site administrators will place your item in an album. To bid on items posted, place your bid in the comments section under the photo. The winning bidder will be sent an invoice via PayPal at the end of the auction. The last day to bid will be on Aug. 31. The Clay Ashurst Benefit Stray Gathering and Match Trailer Loading will be  Sept. 1 at the outdoor arena on the Goshen County Fairgrounds in Torrington. Two-man teams will be $200 per team and must be paid, cash only, before
5:30 p.m.
