TORRINGTON – Nicole Castro-Tapia, 48, passed away Dec. 26, 2020, at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper. Graveside services will be held Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. at Valley View Cemetery with Reverend Father Ray Moss officiating. Nicole was born Sept. 6, 1972, in Torrington, where she grew up and attended Torrington High School. Nicole continued to reside in Torrington and had her daughter Alison Castro in 1992. She later married Rogelio Tapia in 1997, and they had two children, Amelia Tapia and Augustine Tapia. The newest love of her life was her granddaughter, Aspyn, whom she adored without limits.
Nicole had a natural gift of caring for others and made a lifetime career in doing so. After graduating, Nicole began her caretaking role at Torrington Learning Center and did so for many years. Throughout her career, she was employed at Goshen Care Center and Diversified Services, Inc. At the time of her passing, she was self-employed as a Community Health Care Provider with the state of Wyoming via the Developmental Disability Division. Nicole touched many hearts and will forever be remembered for her natural healing touch.
When she was not caring for others, she spent time making crafts with whatever material she could get her hands on. She lived a very simple and selfless life and appreciated the smallest things most take for granted. Her infectious smile and laughter will be forever in our hearts.
Nicole is survived by her husband, Rogelio Tapia of Torrington; children Alison Castro of Harrisburg, Neb.; daughter Amelia “Molly” Tapia (granddaughter Aspyn Jo) of Torrington; son Augustine “Gus” Tapia of Torrington; Mother Elisa Castro of Torrington; Brother Joseph (Mary) Castro; Sisters Susan (Jose) Tapia; Lisa (Amado) Saldana and Andrea Castro all of Torrington; and numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Preceding in death was her father Andrew Castro and nephew Andrew Jon Castro.
