LAGRANGE – Funeral services for N. Lavonne Ward, 86, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 18, 2022 at Frontier School of the Bible in LaGrange. Burial will follow in the LaGrange Cemetery. Lavonne died November 12, 2022 at Life Care in Cheyenne. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the LaGrange Fire and Rescue. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the school. Lavonne was born September 15, 1936 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska the daughter of Harold and Wanda (Craton) Nighswonger. She grew up and received her education in LaGrange. She married Robert Ward on September 27, 1953 in LaGrange. They bought and renovated the town of Meridan, Wyoming and later started Ward Trenching. Worked side by side with Bob fitting pipes, digging, doing the books and billings and was also a fulltime homemaker. They later sold the business to their son Robert. 

Lavonne enjoyed playing cards and dice, and was an avid reader. She was a Lady Shriner and was a past member of the Meridan Women’s Club. 

Lavonne is survived by a son Robert (Nina) Ward of LaGrange; daughters Jody (Cody) Edwards of Cheyenne, Judy (Frank) Taylor of Melbourne, Florida and Glenda (Bill) Pickerel of Meridan; a brother Dennis (Lori) Nighswonger of Overland, Kansas; grandchildren Kelly Ward, Joseph (Allison) Ward, Becky (Damon) Kuhbacher, Jill (Shane) Andersen, Melissa (Matt) Lovett, Elizabeth Edwards, Amber (Dave) Simpson, Chad (Amber) Lowry, Brad (Emily) Lowry, Robbie (Heidi) Edmunds, Jake (Megan) Edmunds and Grant (Tara) Edmunds; and thirty-eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bob; a son Thom Ward; two brothers; and one great granddaughter.
