DOUGLAS – Funeral services for Monty Dean Clutter, 76, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2022 at the Gorman Funeral Homes – Converse Chapel in Douglas with Pastor Tim Millikin officiating.

Monty Clutter died Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2022 at his home west of Douglas with his loving family at his bedside.

Monty was born Saturday, July 20, 1946 in Torrington, the son of Donald “Dean” and Wannittia “Jean” (Hiatt) Clutter. He was raised and educated in Torrington, graduating from the Torrington High School in 1964. Monty worked for a local rancher following his graduation and was married to his high school sweetheart, Janice Lynn Sommer, on July 24, 1964 in Torrington. They moved to Douglas in 1965, where he attended a mechanic school. He worked for the GL Payne Company for 20 years and then for the City of Douglas for 30 years. He retired from the City of Douglas in 2012 as the supervisor of Parks and Recreation Department.

Monty enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and planting trees in the Douglas city parks and cemetery for beautification.

Monty is survived by his wife, Janice, of Douglas; children, Phillip (Lynn) Clutter of Casper, Wyoming, Scotty (Ann) Clutter of Wickenburg, Arizona, Todd (Reggie) Clutter of Breckenridge, Colorado, Darrin (Vicki) Clutter of West Finley, Pennsylvania, and Diane (Frank) Prado of Douglas; siblings, Joe (Henrietta) Clutter, Lola Sowards, and Elaine Rush all of Torrington; eight grandchildren; two step grandchildren; six step great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dean, on Oct. 27, 2006; mother, Jean, on Dec. 11, 2021; and sister, Paula Matthews, on July 16, 1993.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be all of Monty’s many friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to a Tree Fund for the Douglas City Parks in care of Converse County Bank, P.O. Box 689, Douglas, WY 82633 would be appreciated by the family.
