MORRILL, Neb. – Michael (Mike) John Andersen, 58, passed away May 10, 2020 at his home in Morrill.

Cremation was chosen and a Celebration of Life will be arranged at a later date. Online condolences may be made at www.bridgmanfuneralhome.com.

Mike was born Oct. 15, 1961, in Riverton to John and Betty (Davis) Andersen. He had three older sisters, Lois, Jeanne and Carmen. Mike grew up in the Lander area and lived with Don and Barb Van Riper for part of his youth. They remained like parents throughout his life.

Mike was a great horseman, and he had a strong love for the ranching life. He feared no horse and worked with them all his life. He lived in California, Idaho, Nebraska and Wyoming, working at many places, breaking and working with horses. Mike’s life was not easy in any way; he had multiple broken bones and surgeries, but it made for some wild and good stories.

Mike met and married Phyllis (Boome), where he became a father to son Jesse Andersen.  Jesse was the light of his life. They later divorced. Mike bought a place in the Huntley area, where he settled, and raised cattle and horses.

Mike was remarried to Neci (Steedley) and had two beautiful daughters, Josie and Kodie. He showed them his love for ranching and horses. They later divorced, and he never remarried. He ranched until his health became an issue and that is when he moved to Morrill.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents John and Betty; infant son John Michael; and sisters Lois and Carmen.

Mike is survived by Don and Barb Van Riper; his children, Jesse, Josie and Kodie; and his sister, Jeanne.
