Merrigan leads THS cross country at Gering

GERING, Neb. – Torrington High School sophomore Ada Merrigan led the Blazer cross country teams with a 10th-place finish in the large school division on Friday in Gering.

Her time of 22 minutes, 55.03 seconds was good for 10th in the division and 16th overall as the lone Lady Blazer to compete in the event which was held at the Five Rocks Amphitheatre.

In the boys’ division, junior Aydan Loya led the team with an 11th-place finish in the large school division and 11th overall in 18:21.44. Senior Kyland Fuller was 18th in the division and 20th overall in 19:08.59, while junior Collin Taylor was 29th in the division and 42nd overall in 21:03.3.

In the junior varsity boys’ race, sophomore Zabdiel Munoz finished 19th in 21:30.65, while in the junior high division, Lingle-Fort Laramie eighth-grader Sully Wilson won the boys’ race in 11:03.16.

The Blazers are back in action on Friday, Sept. 10 in Kimball, Nebraska.
