LINGLE – Memorial services for Marilyn Jean Jones, 88, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 14, 2023, at the Lingle Presbyterian Church with Reverend Curtis Hill officiating. Burial of ashes will take place in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Lingle. Jean died March 30, 2023, at Community Hospital in Torrington. Those who wish to remember Jean in a special way may make gifts in her memory to the Lingle Fire and Rescue. Jean was born Aug. 25, 1934, in Torrington, the daughter of Jacob and Anna (Greenwald) Hill. She graduated from the Lingle High School in 1952. Following graduation, she attended the University of Wyoming for one year. She married the love of her life, Darley Jones on Nov. 29, 1953. They settled down to farm in the Lingle area. They celebrated sixty years of marriage before Darley passed away on Sept. 12, 2014. 

Jean was a long-time member of the Lingle Presbyterian Church, where she spent many years as choir director and organ/piano player. She sang at hundreds of weddings and funerals through the years. Jean loved bowling and gardening. As a wife and mother, she was always busy caring for the family household. She and Darley kept busy attending their grandchildren’s activities. 

Jean is survived by her two children, Darrell (Mary) Jones of Lingle and Deana (Ron) Derr of Torrington; five grandchildren, Meralyn Larson, Andrew (Tiffany) Gardner, Jacob (Angie) Gardner, Nicholas Jones and Noelle (Daniel) Yonkee; six great grandchildren, Denali and Oaklee Yonkee, Mattie Beers, Devlin Larson, Blake Gardner and Gage Klipstine; her sister Ruthann Hansen; and her brother-in-law Jimmie Keller. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and her sister Dottie Keller.
