TORRINGTON – No services are planned at this time for Lyndell W. Taylor, 75, who died March 16, 2018, at Community Hospital in Torrington. 

Cremation has taken place. Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. The Colyer Funeral Home assisted the family with the cremation arrangements.

Lyndell was born Dec. 26, 1942, in Erick, Okla., the son of Willie and Gladys (Reed) Taylor. He grew up and received his education in Oklahoma, graduating high school in 1960 at Delhi, Okla. 

He attended one semester of college before starting work for the railroad. He started with the Rock Island Railroad and ended up an officer with Burlington Northern Santa Fe. He married Beverly Poole on August 31, 1966. in Texline, Texas. They moved to Torrington in 1985, where he worked as an officer for BNSF, based in Guernsey. He retired in 2001 at
the age of 59.

Lyndell enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf.

Lyndell is survived by his wife Beverly of Torrington; daughters Dena Murphy of Lubbock, Texas, and Susan (Kerry) Luke of Amarillo, Texas; granddaughter Abbie Newton of Lubbock; and a brother Kermit Taylor of Wheeler, Texas. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Anita Phipps.
