Lois M. Sittner

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. – Lois M. Sittner of North Platte passed away Dec. 2, 2019 at Great Plains Health.

She was born Aug. 8, 1926, to Glen L. and Helen D. (Smith) Marlatt in Torrington. She was united in marriage to Ed Sittner on Jan. 12, 1947, at Lyman, Neb.

Lois was employed at various places throughout her lifetime, including when she was younger and most women didn’t work outside of the home. She was a clerk at Emmitt’s Grocery and Kelly’s Superette, a secretary for Stoddard Insurance and McBrayer Insurance, a clerk at Bi-Rite Drug Store and Hallmark. Lois also sold advertising for a radio station and Lois and Ed owned and operated Sittner Manufacturing.

She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Jo Smith of North Platte and Susan Sittner (Tim) Calhoon of Henderson, Nev.; grandchildren Lori (John) Dancer, Chris (fiancé Jaime) Smith and Joshua (Shannon Horton) Smith; great-grandchildren Dakota (Maddie) Dancer, Brinlee Smith and Owen Garrett; two sisters, Shirley (Jerry) Russell and Marian Sittner; two brothers, George Marlatt and Gordon Marlatt; numerous nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Margaret Fleenor, nephew Geff Marlatt and infant brother, Bobby Burton Marlatt.

A celebration of Lois’ life will be held later this summer.
