SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Wyoming High School Activities Assosiation’s indoor track and field season kicked off this past weekend, with three Lingle-Fort Laramie Doggers kicking off the year at Black Hills State University.
L-FL senior Landen Fuller placed fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.15 seconds and he also snagged fourth in the 800-meter run, posting a time of 2:05.70.
“It was nice start to the season for our athletes,” coach Mike Lashley said. “Landen’s times, especially, were very solid for the first meet of the year.”
Jordyn Gaspers competed in the high jump, taking 12th after clearing 4-4. Cora Frederick rounded out the competitors by competing in the 1,600-meter run.
Fuller, Gaspers and Frederick are three of the more than 25 Goshen County athletes that will be competing this winter as honorary members of the Cheyenne Central team. More local competitors will be added to the mix as the season rolls on and they get more practices under their belts.
“It will be fun to see what they contribute to the success of the Central Indian track program,” Lashley said.
The local competitors continue their season with the Indians when they head to the Gillette Invitational on Saturday, with the events kicking off at 10:30 a.m.
