TORRINGTON - Funeral services for Lloyd W. Peterson Jr., 82, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2018, at Our Savior Lutheran Church with Reverend Scott Firminhac officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. Lloyd died April 30, 2018, at Goshen Healthcare Community. The casket will be closed.

Lloyd was born July 26, 1935, in Rockville, Mo., the son of Lloyd and Mildred (Kemper) Peterson Sr. His family moved to Lingle and he grew up and received his education and graduated high school there. 

He married Nelda Brandt on Dec. 26, 1956, in Torrington. He served four years in the US Army as a Civil Engineer, including three years in Germany. After his discharge he returned to Cheyenne, where he worked for the Wyoming Highway Department. He later worked for Teton Construction.

They moved to Grand Junction, Colo., where he worked for Corn Construction and later Elam Construction until the early 80’s. They moved back to Cheyenne where he served as president of Teton Construction. He ranched in Lusk briefly in the 1980’s and then moved to Berthoud, Colo., where he worked at DIA. They moved to Joplin, Mo., to ranch for a time until he retired and moved to Torrington in 2000. He served one term as a Goshen County Commissioner.

Lloyd enjoyed collecting belt buckles and the Denver Broncos. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church.

Lloyd is survived by his wife Nelda of Torrington; a son Gordon (Trisha) Peterson of Flower Mound, Texas; a daughter Diane Quist Peterson of Grand Junction; a sister Margaret (Mike) Allen of St. Charles, Ill.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Shirley.
