CHEYENNE – The Class 2A No. 2-ranked Lingle-Fort Laramie/Southeast wrestling team wrapped up the regular season with a 51-27 loss to the Class 4A No. 4-ranked Cheyenne East Thunderbirds on Friday evening.

After the annual Carbon County Invite was canceled, LFLSE filled the schedule opening with a dual against Thunderbirds.

LFLSE grabbed an early 15-0 lead with fall victories by Grant Logsdon (106 pounds) and Kaleb Brothwell (120), along with a 9-3 decision by Wyatt Sylvester (113).

Cheyenne East got on the scoreboard with a win at 126 pounds, but LFLSE’s Jaden Houk returned the favor at 132 pounds with a victory by pin.

At 138 pounds, Cheyenne East scored a 1-0 victory, and it was the start of eight straight wins to push the Thunderbirds in front 51-26 with one match remaining.

Will Baker wrapped up the dual with a fall late in the first period for LFLSE.

LFLSE also went 1-2 in exhibition matches with Lance York picking up the only win by pin in 3 minutes, 10 seconds.

LFLSE now turns its attention to the 2A Southeast Regional Tournament on Saturday. LFLSE will join Hanna-Elk Mountain, Niobrara County, Glenrock and Saratoga in Glenrock for the one-day event on Saturday, Feb. 20.

The top four in each weight class will punch their ticket to the Wyoming Class 2A State Wrestling Tournament in Casper. Action gets underway at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
