LFL boys second, girls fourth at T-Town Qualifier

TORRINGTON – The Lingle-Fort Laramie Dogger track team got to stay in county last Friday after the annual Dennis Zowada Invite in Lusk was canceled due to the weather.

As a result, the Doggers took part and helped host the T-Town Qualifier last Friday at Wiseman Field in Torrington.

The Dogger teams picked up three wins on the day.

Senior Kyland Fuller and junior Louden Bremer led the boys’ team with a pair of wins.

Fuller won the 400-meter dash in 52.32 seconds, while teammate Slade Hopkins was second in 53.74 seconds. Fuller also finished second in the 200-meter dash, one spot ahead of Hopkins. Fuller was the top finishing Dogger in the 100-meter dash with a fourth. Hopkins finished fifth and Bremer ninth.

Meanwhile, in the 300-meter hurdles, Bremer won the event in 43.20 seconds. He also finished third in the 110-meter hurdles in 17.94 seconds.

In the 800-meter dash Nolan Spears finished second in 2 minutes, 12.81 seconds, while Myles Wilson was fourth in 2:19.61 and Remington Bremer was seventh in 2:24.93. Wilson also finished third in the 1,600-meter run, while Bremer was eighth.

In field events, Boyd Oliver led the team with a third-place finish in discus with a throw of 124 feet, 10 inches. Oliver also finished fourth in shot put with a distance of 41-1.

LFL boys finished second with 113 points, only 1/2 behind Torrington for the team title. Pine Bluffs was third with 110.

In the girls’ division, the third win of the day for LFL went to the 4x400-meter relay team of Brenly Shipp, Jada Kaufman, Emma Walker and Grace Gibson who completed the race in 4:33.08.

The sprint medley relay team of Gibson, Kaufman, Emma Walker and Addy Scott finished second, while the 4x100 team of Gibson, Kaufman, Kenzie Wilkins and Saul placed third.

Maddy Saul also picked up a runner-up finish in the 200-meter dash in 28.17 seconds and finished fourth in the 100. Shipp finished fifth in the 400-meter dash, while Holly Leiseth finished third in the 800 and fourth in the 1,600. Hailey Smith finished fifth in the mile.

In hurdles, Kaufman led a group of four Lady Doggers in the 100-hurdle race with a fourth-place finish, while Walker was fifth and Gibson was sixth. Josie Houk was 11th. Houk also finished sixth in the 300-meter hurdle race.

In field events, Shipp finished fourth in both high jump and long jump, while Izzy Spears placed fifth in the discus.

The Lady Doggers finished fourth with 84 points. Glenrock won the team title with 137.5 points, while Torrington was second with 115. Pine Bluffs was third with 91.

The Lingle-Fort Laramie track teams are back in action Saturday at the SEWAC Meet in Pine Bluffs. Action gets underway at 10 a.m.
