Lancers fall to McCook, North Platte

McCook, Neb. – The Eastern Wyoming College men ended the 2018 portion of their schedule with a pair of road losses to McCook Community College and North Platte Community College.

Last Friday, the Lancers held a 34-26 halftime lead, but McCook dropped 50 points on the EWC defense in the second half en route to a 76-66 victory.

Lancers fall to McCook, North Platte

McCook, Neb. – The Eastern Wyoming College men ended the 2018 portion of their schedule with a pair of road losses to McCook Community College and North Platte Community College.

Last Friday, the Lancers held a 34-26 halftime lead, but McCook dropped 50 points on the EWC defense in the second half en route to a 76-66 victory.

EWC limited McCook to eight first half field goals and 29 percent shooting.

However, that changed in the second half as the Indians ended up shooting 42.9 percent for the game.

Jacob Pfaffinger led the Lancers with 14 points off the bench, while Jaloni Garner added 12. Jordan Potts tossed in 11 points.

The next day, Eastern Wyoming trailed from the opening tip in an 82-57 loss to North Platte.

The Lancers found themselves down 23-4 in the early going, as the Knights extended their lead to 43-29 at the break.

EWC closed the gap to as few as 10 at 45-35, but that proved to be as close as they came to seeing the lead the remainder of the game.

North Platte outshot the Lancers 55 to 35 percent.

Brandon Meadows led the team with 14 points, while Jonatan Arvidsson added 11.

The Lancers (4-9) resumes play on Sunday, Jan. 6 against the Denver All-Stars. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
