LAJUNITA, Colo. – The Eastern Wyoming College Lancer Golf team kicked off the spring season March 25-26 at the Otero Junior College Tournament.
The Lancers won the tournament with a score of 577. McCook Community College was second with 614.
“It was great to get out and play the first tournament of the year. We’ve been waiting to have a normal tournament for some time, so getting out on two nice weather days was a treat,” said Coach Zach Smith. “We were a little rusty the first day, but the guys came out and played great the second day of the event. It was fun to have all five golfers place in the top five of the tournament. We are looking forward to some productive practices this week before we head to Lamar.”
Two Lancers split the tournament win, freshman Brendon Thomas from Farmington, Utah shot 70 and 71 for a two-day total of 141 which was what freshman Russel Sprecher, Casper, scored after rounds of 72 and 69.
The Lancers will compete at the Lamar Community College Tournament April 1-2.
