Lady Lancers win team title at Lamar

LAMAR, Colo. – The Eastern Wyoming College Lancer rodeo team brought home the women’s team title, competing in the Lamar Community College rodeo Oct. 4-6 led by sophomore Karissa Rayhill.

Rayhill finished second in the goat tying average with times of 8.5 and 8.8 seconds. She was second in the first round and split second and third in the short round.

Rayhill also finished fourth in the average of the barrel racing. She won the short round with a time of 17.81 seconds, placing in two events and earning her the women’s all-around title.

Rayhill scored all 240 team points for the weekend, edging the University of Wyoming, who scored 220. Casper College was third with 195.

In the bull riding, freshman Brett McAbee, Ansley, Neb., placed second in the first round with a score of 71.

The Lancers will conclude the fall season with a rodeo hosted by Laramie County Community College Oct. 11-13.
