SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. – The Eastern Wyoming College women’s basketball team fell to 1-5 on Tuesday evening with an 81-55 loss at the hands of the No. 12-ranked Western Nebraska Community College Lady Cougars.

Lady Lancer freshman Anna Soler gave her team an early 2-0 lead off a steal and layup, but it proved to be the only lead of the night for EWC.

On the ensuing WNCC possession, the Lady Cougars drained home the first of their six 3-pointers for the evening and never looked back for the remainder of the evening.

Eastern Wyoming was only playing with seven players, and it didn’t take long for fatigue to set in.

The triple started a brief 7-0 spurt which was slowed by a 3-pointer by EWC freshman Rosa Revueltas.

From that point on, Western Nebraska’s lead grew, reaching as many as 76-42 with 6:10 left in the game.

Late in the game, EWC made a 15-2 during a five-minute stretch of the fourth, but it was too much to overcome in the 26-point loss.

The Lady Lancers shot 30.4% from the field, while WNCC shot 43.1%.

Revueltas led the team in scoring with 19 points. Sophomore Libbie Schaefer added 13 points and seven rebounds. Sophomore Ana Gascon grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds.
