POWELL – The Eastern Wyoming College volleyball team wrapped up the road portion of the schedule over the weekend with losses to Central Wyoming College and Northwest College on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
On Friday, the No. 12 ranked CWC Lady Rustlers swept the Lady Lancers 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-15).
Freshman Makenna Reinert led the Eastern Wyoming with nine kills, while sophomore Neza Pec added eight. Sophomore Victoria Anderer had seven. Freshman Halle Hogan dished out a team-high 20 assists, while freshman Morgan Bates added nine.
Sophomore Alyssa George had a team-high three aces and 10 digs. Pec also had eight digs, while sophomore Dani Masterson had seven. George and sophomore Shaelyn Sims had two blocks apiece.
The next day, the Lady Lancers traveled to Powell to face Northwest College.
The Lady Trappers defeated EWC 3-1.
Northwest came out, winning set one 25-10 in the opening set, but the Lady Lancers rebounded to take set two 25-22 to tie the match at one apiece. Northwest won the next two sets 25-20 and 25-20 to finish off the win.
George led the Lady Lancers with 12 kills, while Reinert had 11 and freshman Fatima Ramirez 10. Bates led the team with 21 assists, while Hogan had 20. Pec tallied three serving aces, while Masterson and Hogan had two each. Masterson also had a team-high 19 digs, while George added 17. Ramirez had two blocks.
The two losses drop the Eastern Wyoming record to 8-12 on the season. The Lady Lancers wrap up the regular season with three consecutive home matches. The stretch begins Friday at 7 p.m. when the team hosts Casper College. EWC also hosts Western Wyoming at 3 p.m. Saturday. The team wraps up the regular season on Friday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. against Laramie County Community College.
