Lady Doggers suffer two losses

LINGLE – The Lingle-Fort Laramie Lady Doggers faced two tough opponents over the weekend, falling at home Saturday against Kaycee, 57-38, and Glenrock, 31-18.

Kaycee 57, L-FL 38

Kaycee poured in 15 points to open the game, leading the Lady Doggers 15-10 after the first quarter. L-FL put up 13 points in the second quarter, but the Lady Bucs mustered 16 to go into halftime up 31-23. The visitors continued to add distance, scoring 13 points in both the third and four quarters, while limiting the Lady Doggers to 15 points combined from the two quarters.

Kaelyn Riley had a solid outing, pouring in 17 points, including seven from the free-throw line, where she shot 7-of-13. Riley rounded out her stat line with four rebounds and a team-high four steals.

Kelcie Sargent kicked in eight points, two rebounds and a steal, while Ashley Riley accounted for six points, four boards, three assists and two steals. Jessy White and Katelynn Seyfang kicked in two points apiece. White finished the night with three rebounds and three assists. Shelby Heilbrun was a monster on the boards, coming down with 10 rebounds, including five on offense, along with an assist and a steal.

L-FL was limited to 29 percent shooting from the floor, including two missed three-pointers. At the free-throw line, the Lady Doggers hit 11-of-19 (58 percent).

The Lady Doggers dropped to 5-13 on the year with their back-to-back losses. They return to the floor to close out the regular season this weekend, hosting Burns on Friday at 5:30 p.m. L-FL’s regular season finale comes on the road Saturday against Pine Bluffs, with a 2:30 p.m. tipoff.
