Lady Doggers finish season with mixed results

PINE BLUFFS – The Lingle-Fort Laramie High School girls’ basketball team finished the season with mixed results against Class 2A opponents.

On Friday, the Lady Doggers grabbed an early lead and cruised to a 56-33 win over the Glenrock Lady Herders.

L-FL grabbed an early 7-3 advantage, but the Lady Doggers outscored Glenrock 33-17 over the middle two quarters to pull away for the victory.

Eight members of the Lady Dogger roster cracked the scoring column. Senior Ashely Riley led the team with 15 points and seven rebounds, while senior Kelcie Sargent added 13 points. Sophomore Tiah Meyer added 11 rebounds.

On Saturday, L-FL traveled south to Pine Bluffs, where the Lady Hornets handed the Lady Doggers a 62-16 loss to conclude the regular season.

Pine Bluffs raced out to a 16-7 lead after the first quarter, and the Lady Hornets limited Lingle-Fort Laramie to no more than four points in each of the remaining three quarters.

The Lady Doggers shot 11% in the loss. Riley led the team with nine points, while junior Kaylie Rafferty added four points. Senior Jessy White had the other three points.

The Lady Doggers now turn their attention to the Class 1A East Regional Tournament in Douglas, where they are the No. 2 seed. L-FL opened postseason on Thursday against Arvada-Clearmont. The tournament wraps up Saturday.
