GUERNSEY – The Lingle-Fort Laramie High School volleyball team picked up a sweep over rival Guernsey-Sunrise Lady Vikings on Friday evening.

The Lady Doggers spoiled Senior Night with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-21, 25-17) road victory.

A service ace by senior Jessy White and a kill from junior Kaylie Rafferty set the tone early in the match, as the Lady Doggers raced out to a 13-2 lead.

That proved to be the largest lead of the set.

The second set proved to be just the opposite for L-FL.

White served up an ace to open the set, but for the next several points, it was all Guernsey.

The Lady Vikings rattled off seven straight points, forcing the Lady Doggers to use a timeout.

Coming out of the break, seniors Shelby Heilbrun and Kalli Nichol tallied kills to shift the momentum back in the visitor’s favor.

The Lady Doggers managed to tie the set at 10, and it was L-FL freshman Baylee Skinner’s ace that gave her team the lead.

Guernsey never led for the remainder of the match.

In the final set, the Lady Doggers jumped out to a 4-1 lead, cruising to the set win and match sweep.

Nichol led the team with nine kills, while senior Audrey Perry added six. Senior Ashley Riley dished out a team-high five aces, while the team as a whole tallied 15.

Defensively, Riley and sophomore Tiah Meyer led the team with six digs each.

The Lady Doggers wrap up the regular season with a pair of road matches. They travel to Yoder to face cross-county rival Southeast on Thursday and to Lusk to face the Niobrara County Lady Tigers on Saturday. First serve is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday and 3 p.m. Saturday.
