MITCHELL, Neb. – The Southeast High School girls’ basketball team fended off a late run by the Mitchell (Neb.) Lady Tigers Tuesday evening to hold on for a 50-48 win.
Mitchell held an 8-6 advantage after eight minutes of play, but in the second quarter, Southeast took a 20-18 lead into halftime.
The Wyopreps.com Class 2A No. 4-ranked Lady Cyclones continued to hold onto a slim advantage through the third quarter, with a 36-33 lead.
In the final quarter, Southeast pushed its lead to as many as 11 before Mitchell made one final charge, closing the gap to as two late in the contest.
Senior Kadra Clark led the Lady Cyclones in scoring with 17. Freshman Brenna Herring had eight, while freshman Sydney Anderson added six.
The Lady Cyclones (8-2) travel to Cheyenne to face Cheyenne East JV at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14.
