TORRINGTON – The Torrington Lady Blazer volleyball team picked up a pair of quadrant wins last weekend with victories over Burns and Wheatland.
On Thursday, the Lady Blazers traveled to Wheatland, knocking off the Lady Bulldogs, 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-20).
Girls worked really well together and played above Wheatland’s very loud crowd,” THS coach Chelsi Jackson said.
Torrington’s Nakayln Garner led the Lady Blazers with 13 kills, while Michaela Moorehouse and Brielle Bivens added six each. Katelynn Wright and Morgan Bates dished out 10 assists. Wright also had four serving aces.
Defensively, Bivens had a team-high 11 digs, while Garner had the team’s only block.
On Saturday, Torrington defeated Burns, 3-1 (17-25, 26-24, 25-22, 25-17).
Lady Blazer Dani Masterson led the team with 13 kills, while Garner added six. Brittany Lira and Moorehouse had five apiece. Torrington dished up seven aces, including three from Bates and two each from Bivens and Garner. Wright had 20 assists.
Defensively, Bivens and Garner had 17 digs each, while Moorehouse led the team with three blocks.
The Lady Blazers (8-16 overall and 4-1 in the 3A Southeast) host Scottsbluff, Neb. Thursday. First serve is scheduled for a 7 p.m. match.
