Lady Blazers 2-4 at Douglas Invite

DOUGLAS – The Torrington High School volleyball team stumbled out of the gates with only one win in five matches at the Douglas Invite.

The Lady Blazers lost the first four matches before ending the weekend with a pair of victories.

In pool play, Torrington lost to Glenrock 2-0 (25-23, 25-23), Alliance, Nebraska 2-0 (25-17, 25-15) and Buffalo (25-18, 25-18).

Going 0-3 in their pool, the Lady Blazers ended up playing in the Silver Bracket, opening with tournament host Douglas.

Torrington won the first set 25-22, but the Lady Bearcats fell in the next two sets 25-21, 15-8.

The loss setup a rematch with Glenrock, and this time, the Lady Blazers knocked off the Herders 28-26, 25-18.

Torrington wrapped up the tournament with a 2-1 win over the Wright Lady Panthers. The Lady Blazers dropped the first set 25-22 but rebounded to win the next two sets 25-20, 15-9.

Torrington (2-4) hosts the Rawlins Lady Outlaws (0-6) at 5 p.m. Friday at Willi Gym.
