TORRINGTON – The Torrington High School girls’ soccer team suffered its third straight loss on Tuesday evening in a 12-1 loss to the Scottsbluff (Neb.) Lady Bearcats.
Scottsbluff scored early and often in the first half, netting all 12 of its goals in the first half.
The Lady Bearcats found the back of the net in the third minute of the game. The visitors scored again in the fourth, fifth, seventh, ninth, 11th, 17th, 27th, 30th, 32nd, 34th and 40th minutes of the match.
In the 35th minute, Torrington managed to challenge the Scottsbluff goalkeeper for the first time, but two minutes later, the Lady Bearcats scored again. However, an offsides call negated the goal.
Leading 12-0 at halftime, Scottsbluff went into keep-away mode.
However, near the 51-minute mark, Torrington senior Kameron Stitt got a shot on goal, missing as it bounced off the right upright, but the rebound came right back to her as she found the back of the net on her second attempt.
The loss drops the Lady Blazers to 2-4 overall and 1-2 in the 3A East Conference.
Torrington is scheduled to host Rawlins (1-2 and 1-1) on Friday at 3 p.m. and Newcastle (2-1-1 and 2-0-1) on Saturday at 1:15 p.m.
