GUERNSEY – Funeral services for Josephine A. Haynes, 96, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019, at the Guernsey Presbyterian Church with Pastor Bill Walker officiating. Burial will follow in the Prairie Rest Cemetery. 

Josephine died Oct. 14, 2019, at Goshen Healthcare Community. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Guernsey VFW Auxiliary. The casket will be open prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are by the Colyer Funeral Home and condolences may be sent to www.colyerfuneralhome.com.

Josephine was born Aug. 13, 1923, in Lusk, the daughter of Ray and Eunice (Sater) Brown. She grew up in the Torrington area and received her education there. She married Delbert Haynes in Torrington on Sept. 2, 1939. They later moved to Guernsey to raise their family. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked briefly at the school and later at the Senior Friendship Center.

Josephine enjoyed crocheting, sewing, reading, gardening flowers and fishing. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the church.

Josephine is survived by two daughters, LaQuetta Oliver of Guernsey and Janeen (Rudy) Oliver of Douglas; a son, Odell (Beverley) Haynes of Guernsey; a brother, Jim (Dorothy) Brown of Torrington; two sisters, Audrey Brown of Guernsey and Karen Ross of Torrington; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 29 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great grandchild. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bud Brown and Ray Brown; and a sister, Joan Milnes.
