Jerry was born on May 30, 1935, in Scottsbluff to David and Marie (Schmidt) Gorr. He attended Scottsbluff High School and graduated in 1952.

On Aug. 23, 1953, he married Jeraldean (Rau). They were united in marriage in St. James Lutheran Church and celebrated their union with family and friends enjoying the festivities of a two-day Dutch Hop Dance. Jerry started his professional life, working for Associated Groceries for several years. In 1958, Jerry and Jeraldean embarked on a joint family career in farming just north of Scottsbluff. After three years, in 1961, Jerry and Jeraldean moved to the Huntley/Lyman area and operated a farm/ranch until 1996. For 35 years, Jerry and Jeraldean farmed together raising sugar beets, corn, beans, and hay. Jerry’s fruitful life involved many aspects of farming and leadership in the ranching community. He served on the Goshen County Beet Board and was also a corn seed dealer for O’s Gold Corn Seed and Kozgro. Jerry also conducted a successful custom cattle/calf feeding operation until his semi-retirement when he and Jeraldean moved from the farm/ranch into “town” of Scottsbluff in 1996. For another 20 years, Jerry enjoyed custom combining in the Scottsbluff/Gering/Wyoming Valley.

Jerry’s favorite and best loved hobby, which started when he was a young cowboy and extended throughout his life, was playing cards, especially Gin Rummy, with his best pals. He was so accomplished at the game that he attended several card tournaments in Las Vegas. Jerry also loved spinning Jeraldean, the love of his life, around the Dutch Hop Dancefloor at every special event. Jerry was known for his lively spirit especially when it came to a good ol’ Tractor Pull. Jerry gave back to his community in many ways, most notably as President of the United Church of Christ in Lyman, NE. Jerry was a big fan of old western movies and of course his children’s and grand children’s school activities.

His memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of his devoted wife of 69 years, Jeraldean; his sister Sharon Schultz; three children Debra Gorr, David (Belinda) Gorr, and Tori Gorr; six grandchildren Heather Keller, Brandon (Jana) Gorr, Lance (Megan) Gorr, Sheena Radford, Shaelin Radford and Stuart Radford; six great-grandchildren Arabella and Vivian Keller; Bailee, Parker, and Mason Gorr; Oliver, Kara and Grayson Gorr; goddaughter and niece Candace West and Jaci Lynn; and most importantly, his is two beloved and playful pups Charlie and Dukie Gorr.

Jerry is proceeded in death by his parents David and Marie Gorr and brother-in-law Dennis Schultz; paternal grandparents Fred Sr. and Anna Gorr; maternal grandparents Fredrick and Susanna Schmidt and several aunts and uncles. May Jerry forever rest in peace in the loving hands of the Lord.
