TORRINGTON – WWII Army veteran James Alex Smith died on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2018 in Torrington at the age of 92.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ona Smith, his second wife, Isabelle Smith, his son, David Smith, his step-son Jon Davis and his parents, James Frank Smith and Margaret Smith.
His living children are daughters Susan Purvis, Sandra Hood and Sharon Morrison, step-children Tom Davis, Deborah McVay and Kristen Jacques. He leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was born July 11, 1926, in Ohio, where he later worked at Samuel Moore and Co., for many years. He later moved to Arizona, where he worked for Motorola until he retired.
After retirement, he moved to Wyoming, where he lived until his death.
Services will be held in the spring.
