TORRINGTON – James Addison York, 78, died Jan. 28, 2023, at home with his family by his side.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 3, at 1 p.m. at the United Methodist Church with Pastor Jeff Wayland officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday from 3-5 p.m. at the Colyer Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Jim’s memorial fund for a bench at the cemetery or to the United Methodist Church in Torrington in Jim’s honor.

Jim was born Nov. 2, 1944, in Lusk, the son of Otto and Elizabeth “Bessie” (From) York. He grew up and attended school at Prairie Center and finished high school in Torrington, graduating with the class of 1963. Jim then served two years with the US Army. When he returned, he attended Western Nebraska Vocational Technical School which helped him get started with his construction business in Torrington. Jim York Builders was a general contractor for 50 years. Jim never fully retired.

He married Dianne Helzer on Feb. 19, 1994, in Torrington.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years; son, Kirk (Lisa) York of Grant, Nebraska; daughter, LaTisha (AJ Saucedo) Nett of Cheyenne; son, Michael (Erin) Helzer of Casper; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Nancy) York of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; brother, Ed York of Texas and sister, Mary (Roger) Feagler of Sheridan.

Preceding him in death were his parents, and a sister-in-law, JoAnne York.
