Harold Schauerman

LINGLE – Private burial for Harold Schauerman, 93, was held March 27, 2019. Harold died March 4, 2019, in Napa, Calif.. Memorials may be given to The Heart Foundation. Local arrangements were under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home.

Harold was born April 2, 1925, in Lingle, the son of Jacob and Mollie (Mahlinger) Schauerman. He lived in Lingle until the third grade, when the family moved to Torrington, where he finished his education. 

In 1943 he went into the U.S. Army and was discharged in 1946. Upon returning from the service he went to work for Lovercheck and Cottier at their elevator south of Torrington. He married Betty Grossman on June 18, 1951, in Torrington. In 1952 they moved to El Cajon, Calif., where he worked as a carpenter, spending the next 35 years in construction in California. 

He retired in 1987 and moved to Brookings, Ore., where he lived for four years and then moved to Yuba City, Calif. Following the death of his wife in 1997 he moved to Brighton, Colo., to take care of other family. He moved to Napa in March of 2018.

Harold enjoyed walking and living and doing what he wanted to do, when he wanted to do it.

Harold is survived by a granddaughter, April Welsh, a great-granddaughter, Paige Glover, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Harold Schauerman; a step-daughter, Carol Millar; three brothers, William, Jake and Samuel Schauerman; and a sister, Mary.
