LANDER – The Torrington High School golf teams wrapped up the season with a ninth-place finish at the Class 3A State Golf Championships in Lander over the weekend.

Leading the way was Blazer junior Gage Gibson, who finished 10th, earning Class 3A All-State Honors.

“We were excited that Gage could get into the top 10, especially after the crazy way that conference ended for him with the false quarantine issues,” THS coach Jeff Halley said. “He had a really good first day and held on the second day to place. There are a lot of very good golfers in 3A right now, and for him to make that top 10, that is a great accomplishment.”

Gibson shot an 82 on day one and an 87 on day two for a two-day total of 169.

Malaki Braddy finished 28th with rounds of 94 and 93 to finish with a total of 187. Alex Waring shot a 203 with rounds of 104 and 99 to place 45th, while Ryder Hackbarth finished tied for 46th with a 205. Josh Stitt fired rounds of 91 and 121 for a 212 to place tied for 55th.

As a team, the Blazers finished ninth with 751 strokes. Riverton won the state championship with 633, while Worland was second with 665.

In the girls’ division, THS senior Sydney Eaton shot rounds of 109 and 106 for a two-day total of 215 to finish 15th.

“For the girls, Sydney started rough at the beginning of the first day but worked her way back to 15th to close out her career,” Halley said.

Lauren Orr placed tied for 33rd with a 250, including rounds of 131 and 119. Carleigh Dugger finished tied for 35th with round of 113 and 139. Kaylee Pittman finished 41st with a 282, and Madyson Banister placed 43rd with a 288.

As a team, the Lady Blazers finished ninth with a 716. Wheatland won the team championship with a 556, edging Green River by two strokes. Lovell was third with 577.

“All of our kids had at least one decent day up there, but the other day was rough on some of them,” Halley said.
