TORRINGTON – Four members of the Eastern Wyoming College women’s basketball team earned postseason recognition late last week, announced by the athletic department.
Freshmen Mara Neira and Natalie Kalaydjiev and sophomore Montse Gutierrez Ibanez were named to the All-Region IX North Team.
Neira and Ibanez led the Lady Lancers in scoring with 12.5 per game, while Kalaydijev was second on the team in rebounding, averaging 5.9 per contest to go along with 12.2 points per game.
Freshman Ana Gascon was named to the All-Region IX North Defensive Team. Gascon averaged 1.2 steals per game and grabbed a team-high 7.5 rebounds per game.
“We are proud of these players,” said Coach Tom Andersen. “This is a reflection of the success that these players and the team accomplished this season.”
The Lady Lancer season came to a close in the quarterfinal round of the Region IX Tournament on April 8. The team finished the season with a 14-8 record.
