LAMAR, Colo. – The Eastern Wyoming College Lancer Golf team won the Lamar Community College tournament with a two-day total score of 584. The Lancers finished 25 strokes ahead of second place McCook with 609.

Leading the Lancers and winning the tournament was Gonzalo Arcelay Fernandez-Meras, freshman, Munguia, Spain. He shot a 68 in both rounds for a total of 136, winning by 10 strokes.

"This was a great comeback from the team after the first tournament didn't go the way we wanted. I was proud of the guys as they played to their strengths," said coach Zach Smith. "Gonzalo had a great weekend and it was fun to watch him do so well. The competition is tough this year so we need to play our best every tournament."

Other Lancer scores were as follows:

Malosi Togisala, freshman, Ogden, Utah, 73-75, 148, tied fourth; Trey Massey, sophomore, Lander, 76-73, 149, tied sixth; Jared Pilkington, sophomore, Scottsbluff, Neb., 77-72, 149, tied sixth; George Elliott, freshman, Salisbury, UK, 74-77, 151, ninth; Kash Kaufman, freshman, Torrington, 84-78, 162.

The Lancers took to the links Thursday at a tournament hosted by McCook Community College. EWC wraps up action in that tournament today (Friday).
