TORRINGTON – On Wednesday evening, the Eastern Wyoming College volleyball team returned to Region IX North Division action, falling 3-1 to a Casper College who is receiving votes in the most recent National Junior College Athletic Association rankings.

EWC volleyball falls to Casper College

TORRINGTON – On Wednesday evening, the Eastern Wyoming College volleyball team returned to Region IX North Division action, falling 3-1 to a Casper College who is receiving votes in the most recent National Junior College Athletic Association rankings.

The visiting Lady Thunderbirds won set one 25-22, but the Lady Lancers won a 31-29 set two marathon to even the match score at one apiece.

In sets three and four, Casper won both 25-19 to pick up the road win.

Sophomore Vanja Przulj led Eastern Wyoming with 18 kills, while freshmen Alyssa George added eight and Lejla Viteskic seven as the Lady Lancers hit only .090 in the loss. George also led the team in digs with 21, while sophomore J'Adore Hayes added 16 and Przulj 11. Viteskic led EWC with four blocks.

Southeast High School graduate Hailey Anderson tallied six kills, seven digs, three blocks and one serving ace for Casper College.

The loss drops the Lady Lancers to 11-9 for the season. Friday and Saturday's matches against Northwest College and Central Wyoming College were postponed due to the winter storm. Eastern Wyoming travels to Rock Springs to face Western Wyoming on Friday and Casper on Saturday. Friday's match is scheduled for 7 p.m. and Saturday's match is set for 3 p.m.
