EWC men snap seven-game skid vs. Northwest

TORRINGTON – The Eastern Wyoming College men’s basketball team saw it’s losing streak reach seven in a 73-58 loss to the Sheridan College Generals on Wednesday evening, but the Lancers rebounded on Saturday for a 90-68 victory over the Trappers from Northwest College.

On Wednesday, the Lancers kept things close for the first 30 minutes.

With 10:26 left in the ballgame, EWC sophomore Jeremi Jiba connected on a 3-pointer to put the Lancers in front 48-43. The visiting Generals responded with a 20-2 run over the next five minutes to take a commanding 63-50 lead.

Sophomore Jonatan Arvidsson led EWC with 29 points on 10-of-18 shooting, while Jiba added 10 points. Sophomore Sam Tiley had nine points.

On Saturday, the Eastern Wyoming men cracked the Region IX win column with the 22-point win.

Five Lancers scored in double-figures, led by Arvidsson with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Tiley added 12 points, while sophomore Jordan Potts tossed in 11. Sophomore Karl Drammeh and freshman Alexander Karras had 10 each.

The Lancers (11-12 overall and 1-8 Region IX North) return home on Wednesday to face Laramie County Community College at 7:30 p.m.
