Essert powers spring golf

BUFFALO – The Torrington Lady Trailblazers golf team finished third in Laramie on Thursday and second in Buffalo on Friday as a team, led by Caleigh Essert winning both days.

In Buffalo, Essert finished with a score of 75, earning her the top spot. Jade Reinhardt turned in a score of 103 points, while Laura Halley finished the round at 110. As a team, Torrington’s 288 points put them second with 288, which was 10 strokes behind Thunder Basin’s 278.

The Lady Blazers had five compete in Laramie on Thursday in cold and windy weather, led by Essert’s first-place finish with a score of 77. Reinhardt and Kaylee Wilson finished tied for 10th, with both turning in scores of 105. Halley had a score of 113, while Logan Murphy turned in a score of 128.

Torrington turned in a score of 287 to finish third, three strokes behind Natrona County’s 284. Kelly Walsh took the team title, finishing at 270.

Cameron Murphy represented the Blazer boys both Thursday and Friday. In Laramie, he shot a 103, followed by a 95 on Friday in Buffalo.

Torrington’s golf team returns to action Friday in Cheyenne.
