TORRINGTON – Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Erika Alisia Cortez, 31, at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, 2002 at the Riverside Church of Christ with Father Ray Moss officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery.
Erika was given her angel wings and welcomed home on Nov. 18, 2022. Memorials may be given to the family to help with funeral expenses. Visitation will be prior to and during the Rosary which will be at 9:30. Arrangements are by the Colyer Funeral Home and condolences may be sent to www.colyerfuneralhome.com.
Erika was born June 21, 1991 in Torrington, the daughter of Sergio and Alisia (Soto) Cortez. Ever since she was a little girl, she had a unique charm about her. Her smile could brighten any room she walked into, and she had the loudest most adorable laugh. Her energy was unmatched, with her silly dance moves, impressive imitations of movie characters and her impeccable makeup skills. She never went a day without taking her infamous selfies, capturing all her beauty. If she wasn’t dancing, she was cooking. She was an incredible cook and lived to display her creations to her friends and family. Erika was a family girl and loved her mama so much. She had a very special relationship with her sister Emily, they were the very best of friends. Erika was a boy mom and loved her children unconditionally. She worked extremely hard for them, making sure they always had what they needed. Erika will always be remembered for her beautiful free spirit, her love for life and that gorgeous smile. She truly captivated everyone she ever met, leaving a lasting impression.
Erika is survived by her parents Sergio and Alisia Cortez; her sisters Marisela (Justin) Blanco, Emily (Zach) Cortez, and Selena (Ethan) Cortez; her brother Sergio (Taylor) Cortez; her three beautiful sons Jayden, A.J. and Xavier; many nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles and an abundance of cousins. She was preceded in death by her brothers Moses Franco and Isidro Cortez; her sister Serafina Lopez; her nephews Stephen Edward Blanco Jr and Ancelmo Lopez; and her grandmother Virginia Dominguez.
